DESCRIPTION
The Backup 4 switches enable reliable switching from a main to a backup system. Up to 8 DMX universes and in the “N” version additional Ethernet, e.g. for the protocols Art-Net and sACN (E1.3.1) are supported.
FAST LIVE SWITCHING
In case of an emergency, the Backup 4 switches allow fast and easy switching between the main and backup controls thanks to the large switch. There is no need to reconnect cables and work can be resumed within a few seconds on the backup system.
NO SIGNAL IMPACT
The Backup 4 switches guarantee a metrologically neutral live circuit. This is achieved through targeted electromagnetic shielding and a 100% passive construction. Together with complex measurements, it can be ensured that signals from the main or backup controller are in no way influenced.
EXTREMELY HIGH PROTECTION
The completely off-grid and robust design of the Backup 4 switches provides outstanding fail-safety, which cannot be achieved by active solutions with their additional sources of error.
HIGH QUALITY MATERIALS
The Backup 4 switches are made from a high-quality, anodised 2U 19″ rack mount enclosure, made from the highest quality aluminum in Germany.

DMX Channels
Mechanical switching depending on the version of 4 or 8, 5-pin DMX channels.

- Main: 4x or 8x DMX connectors
- Backup: 4x or 8x DMX connectors
Outputs
- Output: 4x or 8x DMX sockets
The switches are compatible with RDM.
Ethernet
Mechanical switching of Ethernet optional in the “N” version.
INPUTS
- Main: 1x Ethercon Neutrik network socket
- Backup: 1x Ethercon Neutrik network socket
Outputs
- Output: 1x Ethercon Neutrik network socket
The switches are tested to the network standard Cat5e and are fully certified. In addition, all common network protocols, especially Art-Net, sACN (E1.2.1), Hog-Net, MA-Net & MA2-Net, are supported.

Other application examples
The Backup 4 family is not limited to switching between a main and a backup system, but can be used in a very versatile way. The following additional applications are possible, for example:
- Switching DMX and Art-Net signals between consoles of different manufacturers
- Switching network signals from a console to DMX output devices
- Switching over all common network protocols, e.g. Art-Net, Hog-Net, sACN (E1.2.1), MA-Net and MA2-Net.
